Young curler gets Olympic jersey from gold medallist Jill Officer

WINNIPEG – A seven-year-old curler got a thrill and one heck of a show-and-tell item at the Global Winnipeg offices on Wednesday morning.

Gold medallist Jill Officer presented Lori Desautels and her son Connor with a jersey signed by all members of the Canadian Olympic curling team after he won a Global Winnipeg contest. Officer, who was a broadcaster before she started curling full-time, also writes the Jill’s House blog for GlobalNews.ca.

The Grade 2 student, who met Officer earlier at an event at the Fort Rouge Curling Club, was thrilled not only to meet her again, but to put on the signed jersey and Officer’s Olympic gold medal while his mom snapped a photo.

Connor plans to take the jersey to school for show and tell, his mom said.
