WATCH: Experienced politicians in race to be next mayor of Salmon Arm

SALMON ARM – It’s a unique four-way race to become the next mayor of Salmon Arm.

All four candidates have council experience and three have already sat in the mayor’s chair, including incumbent Nancy Cooper.

She’s being challenged by former mayors Marty Bootsma and Ian Wickett, as well as long time councillor Debbie Cannon.

Bootsma and Cooper are no strangers to duking it out in civic elections.

In 2005, Bootsma was elected mayor beating out Cooper by only three votes.

Three years later, in 2008, the result wasn’t nearly as close. Bootsma won the election and Cooper came in fourth.

Bootsma didn’t run in the last election.
