TORONTO – Police in Lincoln County, Oregon have charged a 34-year-old woman with murder for allegedly throwing her 6-year-old son off the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport Monday night.
Police say they recovered the boy’s body around 11 p.m. Monday after his mother, identified as Jillian McCabe, called police to report the incident before 7 p.m.
The accused was arrested and has since been charged with aggravated murder, murder, and first degree manslaughter.

The coast guard was brought in to recover the child’s body, which also forced the closure of the bridge for several hours.
“I feel really sorry for the family,” Newport Police Chief Mark Miranda told news station KGW Portland. “Losing a kid isn’t easy.”
The mother’s motive is still unclear but media reports say the woman allegedly told police she heard voices telling her to throw her son over the bridge.
