Inmate on the loose near Prince Albert, Sask.

Police have issued a warrant for an escaped inmate from the Riverbend Institution near Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

52-year-old inmate Joseph Nippi, escaped from the minimum security institution near Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

He was discovered missing during a Tuesday count and police issued a warrant for Nippi’s arrest.

Nippi is described as 5’6″ in height, 78 kg (172 lbs), with brown eyes, black hair, and tattoos of a heart on his right hand and his name on his left hand.

He is currently serving a three year sentence for two counts of impaired driving.

Riverbend Institution is a minimum security institution located 1 km west of Prince Alert and adjacent to Saskatchewan Penitentiary. This federal institution was opened in 1962 and accommodates approximately 125 inmates.

Minimum security offenders are those who are rated as low escape risk, low risk to the public in the event of an escape and display progress in dealing with identified problem areas.
