Two men killed in rollover near Moosomin First Nation

COCHIN, Sask. – Saskatchewan RCMP have laid impaired driving charges after two men were killed in a rollover Saturday.

Around 4:15 p.m., Mounties were called to crash at the Moosomin First Nation access road near Cochin, Sask.

Investigators said a four-door sedan lost control while travelling west on the grid road and rolled into the Lehman canal.

The vehicle landed upside down in the water.

Two men, aged 40 and 28, were pronounced dead at the scene. They were from the First Nation and their names have not been released.

The 19-year-old female driver was not injured.

She is charged with two counts of impaired driving causing death, two counts of impaired operation over 0.08 BAC causing death and failing to comply with a probation order.

The driver will remain in custody until a court appearance on Monday.

An RCMP traffic reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is continuing to determine additional factors which contributed to the rollover.
