KELOWNA — Kelowna RCMP say they have a suspect in mind in connection with a murder on a Kelowna transit bus.

A 55-year-old man was killed by another passenger shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday while the bus was on Baron Road.

“According to witnesses, as the male suspect left the bus, he made a shoving motion towards the victim, who was also a passenger. The victim was found immediately after suffering from a serious injury which resulted in his death,” says Superintendent, Nick Romanchuk.

The victim was reportedly stabbed, however, police will not confirm how he died.

They won’t say if a weapon has been found.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP suggests they know the identity of the suspect and are confident of making an arrest.

“The preliminary investigation suggests this to be a random incident. We know that crimes of this nature are always disturbing to the community,” says Romanchuk. “I would like assure the public that all resources needed for the investigation are currently in place and every effort is being made to identify and apprehend the suspect as soon as possible.”

They say the suspect is known to police and say they’re aware of his location.

Police are not releasing the identity of the victim.
