Boil water advisory in effect for Comox Valley Regional District

VANCOUVER – Residents of the Comox Valley Regional District are advised to boil their water until further notice.

Due to the rainfall experienced over the last few days, turbidity levels have risen in Comox Lake, which is where the water originates for the Comox Valley local service. It is taken from the Puntledge River and delivered to about 41,000 residents.

All users of the Comox Valley water system, and Island Health say especially those with compromised immune systems, should boil their drinking water for at least one minute at a rolling boil.

The areas affected are:

The City of Courtenay, the Town of Comox, and the Comox Valley, Arden, Marsden/Camco, Greaves Crescent, and England Road water local service areas.

The district says this does not affect bathing or showering, but until the boil water advisory is lifted, everyone is asked to minimize non-essestial water use.
