Fallen Quebec soldier’s family says they are lost without him

MONTREAL – Funeral arrangements are being arranged for Patrice Vincent, the Canadian soldier who was murdered Monday in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

The family of Warrant Officer Vincent issued their first statement since his death Friday.

“His death has created a huge hole in our hearts,” the family wrote.

“Patrice was so proud to serve with the Canadian Armed Forces. He loved what he did and we always supported him during the 28 years he served as a soldier.”

They asked for privacy, expressing their shock and sadness and offered condolences to the family of Nathan Cirillo.

“Know that we share your pain and you are in our hearts,” the statement reads.

The family also offered kind words to the family of Vincent’s killer, who they say must also be living difficult moments.

Vincent’s funeral will be held November 1st at the Cathédrale de Longueuil in Vieux-Longueuil.

The family is also working to set up a Facebook page in Vincent’s memory.
