NHL players will do whatever they can to avoid drawing a penalty. In the case of Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian, he was willing to leap into the opposing team’s bench to avoid a too many men on the ice call.
Early in the first period of Thursday night’s 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues, Kassian and the Canucks were caught with six skaters on the ice. Unable to get to the Canucks bench in time, Kassian jumped off the ice and into the Blues bench, a move that didn’t impress Blues forward Steve Ott, who grabbed Kassian’s jersey.
