EDMONTON – The Alberta government says although there were more collisions on the province’s roads in 2013 compared to the previous year, the overall fatality rate continues to decline.
Figures show there were over 141-thousand collisions last year — an increase of more than five-thousand from 2012.

A total of 358 people lost their lives, but the province says crash deaths have fallen by 22 per cent since Alberta’s first traffic safety plan was introduced in 2007.
Figures also show substantial jumps in the number of vehicles and drivers in the past year, with the volume of traffic on highways jumping by three-point-four per cent.
