Update: Suspects arrested in connection with ‘suspicious’ fire in Surrey

A large fire broke out early Saturday morning at 140th St. and 65th Ave in Surrey. Intense flames and a huge plume of smoke were visible.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the fire.  Surrey RCMP say a man and a woman were seen leaving the abandoned shed that went up in flames.

Surrey Fire Battalion Chief Ed Wells called the fire is “suspicious in nature.”

The woman has been released after being questioned, but the man was taken into custody and charged with trespassing and arson, according to authorities.

The building was not occupied and there were no injuries.
