TORONTO – David Shiner has won Ward 24 in the Toronto election with more than 55 per cent of the vote.
Shiner, an ally to former Toronto mayor Mel Lastman and the only city councillor to vote with the Ford brothers in 2013 on limiting Rob Ford’s powers, ran against four other candidates. Dan Fox finished second with 29 per cent.

Shiner was re-elected easily in the 2010 election, winning more than 58 per cent of the vote.
