HALIFAX – The RCMP says it is still looking for a teenager from North Preston, N.S. wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant in connection with a shooting last month.
A 17-year-old boy is charged with attempted murder after two people were shot at on Downey Road in North Preston on Sept. 26.
An 18-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were walking on the side of the road when several shots were fired from a vehicle that drove up beside them.
The woman was shot in the arm and later treated and released from hospital. The man was not injured.
The suspect is also charged with breach of probation and several weapons-related offenses.
The RCMP says new information indicates he is likely residing somewhere in Canada outside Nova Scotia.
The teen is described as a black male, 5’10”, 140 pounds with black, curly hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous, and police have advised the public not to approach him.
Police had taken the unusual step of releasing the suspect’s identity and photo even though he is a minor. A prior court order permitting the release expired on Oct. 7, but was renewed Wednesday to remain in effect for five days or until he is apprehended within that time.
That court order has since expired.
Anybody with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police (902-490-5020) or send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
