The City of Vancouver has been granted an injunction to remove a tent city from Oppenheimer Park.

This comes after two days of hearings which wrapped up Tuesday.

The campers have been living in the park since mid-July. They say there is inadequate housing available in the area, and their rooms are infested with bedbugs and rodents.

The city says the camp is a public safety risk with drug use, fighting and numerous calls to police. Shelter space has been expanded and two new homeless shelters have been announced to help house the campers. So far, 50 campers have accepted the city’s offer of housing.
