WINNIPEG -Thanksgiving dinner won’t look or taste the same for many of Winnipeg’s less fortunate, unless Siloam Mission receives more turkey donations.
Every year it cooks 125 turkeys, but this year it’s about 25 short.
“This is a big occasion all across Canada, and it would be devastating to not have enough to share with our neighbors and friends,” said Judy Richichi, Siloam Mission’s donation coordinator.
In 2013, the mission served 1,000 meals, but this year it’s expecting to feed more than 1,200.
While Richichi says they never turn anyone away, without enough Turkey they will have to reduce portion sizes, or serve sandwiches as an alternative.
It is also short frozen vegetables, punch and pie.
Donations can be dropped off at 300 Princess Street.
