- John Tory is widening his lead in the Toronto mayoral race, according to a new poll. A Mainstreet Technologies poll conducted on Oct. 5 reveals Tory has 42 per cent support among likely voters compared to 28 per cent for Doug Ford and 19 per cent for Olivia Chow.
- Doug Ford received a round of boos at a mayoral debate Sunday night after attempting to distance himself from alleged anti-Semitic comments his brother Rob made months ago.
- Residents living in Toronto’s Liberty Village neighbourhood have a new transit alternative. A special crowdfunded bus service made its first run this morning on the busy King Street corridor and will continue all week-long.
- Commuting during rush hour is expected to be less congested as the Toronto Transit Commission adds four more trains to its fleet after Thanksgiving weekend. The subway additions will be split on the Yonge-University and Bloor-Danforth line.
- Another candidate is entering Ontario’s Progressive Conservative leadership race. Ottawa MPP Lisa MacLeod has announced that she will officially launch her campaign to succeed Tim Hudak on Oct. 19.
