Watch above: More rush hour subway service coming to the TTC. Marianne Dimain reports.
TORONTO – Commuting during rush hour is expected to be less congested as the Toronto Transit Commission adds four more trains to its fleet after Thanksgiving weekend.
The subway additions will be split on the Yonge-University and Bloor-Danforth line.
In an interview with Global News this summer, TTC deputy chief operating officer Mike Palmer said that the cost of new drivers and more trains is coming out of this year’s existing budget.

Currently, rush-hour service on the Yonge-University-Spadina line is one train every 2 minutes and 21 seconds. The added service is expected improve on that.
Each subway train carries approximately 1,200 riders.
In addition to the trains, operational and crew scheduling changes will also be made to cut down on commuter wait times.
