VANCOUVER — Investigators say a young woman who was struck and killed by an approaching train in Maple Ridge Sunday afternoon may have been distracted.
Sixteen-year-old Tiffany Williams of Maple Ridge was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Williams was walking alone along railroad tracks near 203 Street and Hammond Road around 1 p.m.
It appears she did not realize there was an approaching train.
Investigators say the victim was wearing headphones, listening to music, and texting at the time.
The Coroner’s office is now investigating the case.
