UPDATE: Abbotsford Police looking for two trucks in connection with girl spotted on side of road

UPDATE: The Abbotsford Police Department is continuing its investigation into the recent suspicious circumstances surrounding a young girl being spotted lying on the side of the road. After reviewing security footage, they are looking to speak with the drivers of two trucks – a full-sized white pick-up, and a smaller red pick-up. Both were captured in security footage, driving on Enterprise Avenue  just after 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 30.

Authorities say there have been no missing person reports involving young girls and they have checked in with the school district to ensure students are all accounted for. However, the investigation continues as they attempt to explain, “the observations of the very credible witness.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Police say at 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday they received a call from a motorist who had seen a girl, wearing a pink jacket, lying on the side of the road near Enterprise Avenue and McCallum Road.

A Caucasian man in his 40s with curly brown hair was near the girl. The witness told police the man then picked the girl up off the ground and carried her into the trees west of their location.

The man was wearing a dark jean jacket and jeans.

Police say the witness contacted them because he was concerned the young girl, believed to be between the ages of six and 10, did not appear to be moving.

Officers began searching the area shortly after but didn’t find anything.

“We haven’t located the pair, but we have several witnesses who also advise that they saw this pair, but that the girl appeared to be in good spirits — all of these reports were before the driver said he saw the pair,” says Cst. Ian MacDonald.

“It looks like the pair knew each other and they might have a parent-child relationship, but this is not certain. But it looks unlikely that we’re dealing with a stranger relationship — it looks like they at least knew each other.”
