Cher cancels weekend shows in Toronto

TORONTO — Music icon Cher has cancelled a pair of concerts this weekend in Toronto as she continues to recover from illness.

The 68-year-old was scheduled to perform Saturday and Sunday at the Air Canada Centre.

“I HATE being sick & Deplore canceling,” Cher tweeted on Sept. 25.

“Sorry 4 Screwing up plans, disappointing every1. BELIEVE I Am desolate, because I’ve disappointed u.”

According to a statement issued in early September, Cher was diagnosed with an acute viral infection.

The concert promoter said Cher will resume her Dressed to Kill Tour in Texas on Nov. 9.

“Doctors advise additional rest for our star,” reads a message on the singer’s Facebook page.

Ticketmaster said Monday tickets for the Oct. 4 Toronto show will be honoured once new dates are confirmed. Refunds are also being offered.

The first leg of the Dressed to Kill Tour, which stopped in several Canadian cities, grossed close to $50 million, according to Forbes.
