WINNIPEG – A topic that is not often talked about was front and centre at Assiniboine Park Sunday.
Hundreds of people laced up to raise money and show their support for those battling eating disorders. Popular magazine covers showing celebrities were held up during the annual walk.
“Everyone that we’ve spoken to says that is a needed cause,” said savED founder, Luther Sousa. “We need people talking about eating disorders, talking about self beauty more and more.”
The goal was to raise $20,000 from the walk. All of the money goes to the Adult Eating Disorder Clinic at the Health Sciences Centre.
“It helps immensely,” said Sousa. “Rehab can be really difficult, especially someone with an eating disorder, so all our funds help them make a more comfortable experience.”
