MONTREAL — The Montreal West Children’s Library capital campaign kicked off Thursday night with a fall fair.
Families enjoyed food, activities and music at Strathearn park.
The Montreal West Children’s Library is a unique library; it is housed in the Elizabeth Ballantyne school but serves the community of children in Montreal West.

“We run lots of baby and toddler programs, a mother goose program and a toddler program called Tales for Tots. We also have a very popular Lego program,” explained head librarian Lindsey Skeen.
The building is also in need of renovations. The English Montreal School Board will pay to re-do the library’s floors.
The library’s board of directors is hoping the capital campaign will raise $100,000 to pay for other renovations like new lighting and air conditioning, new shelving and a circulation desk.
“We have all kinds of programs plus we see the school students throughout the day, so we’re a very busy little library.”
The Montreal West Children’s Library has been part of the municipality since 1922.
