Homicide investigators are at a Burnaby apartment tonight after a man was found dead following an attempted home invasion.

RCMP Inspector Konrad Golbeck said the incident happened just after 10:30 Monday evening in the 3900-block of Carrigan Court, next to Lougheed Skytrain station.

Burnaby RCMP were called to the scene after there were reports of shots fired.

When they arrived on scene, a deceased male was found outside the apartment.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has now taken over the case. The victim has been identified as 23 year old Abdul Sarwari, who lived within the apartment complex on Carrigan Court.

“The victim’s cause of death has not been confirmed and the death is considered suspicious.  IHIT currently has carriage of this investigation and are looking to speak with any witnesses who may have been in the area during this time,” says Staff Sergeant Jennifer Pound.
