TORONTO — Canadian group MAGIC! had the second hottest song of the summer, according to a list compiled by Billboard.

The music industry publication ranked the Toronto band’s single “Rude” second only to Iggy Azalea’s hit “Fancy.”

The Top 10 songs of the summer of 2014 were determined based on cumulative performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 chart, radio airplay, sales data, and streaming activity data.

MAGIC! is a reggae fusion band fronted by Toronto-born Nasri Atweh, who has written and produced songs for dozens of artists, including Justin Bieber, Cody Simpson, Shakira and Akon.

“We know the same streets, and we grew up on the same music,” Atweh said of bandmates Mark Pellizzer, Ben Spivak and Alex Tanas, in a bio online. “It’s the real thing.”

Following “Rude” is “Problem” by Ariana Grande featuring Iggy Azalea; “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith; and “Am I Wrong?” by Nico & Vinz.
