Friends, relatives, NHL elite mourn Brad McCrimmon

FARMINGTON, Mich. – The entire Detroit Red Wings team, Scotty Bowman, Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman and Toronto Maple Leafs president and general manager Brian Burke were among the mourners at Brad McCrimmon’s funeral Saturday.

The 52-year-old McCrimmon, a former NHL player and Detroit’s assistant coach for the past three seasons, died last week when Russia’s Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey club’s Yak-42 jet crashed in Russia en route to their first game of the season.

McCrimmon, a native of Plenty, Saskatchewana was in his first season coaching the Russian hockey club.

He
played 18 years in the NHL for Boston, Philadelphia, Calgary, Detroit,
Hartford and Phoenix before moving behind the bench.

A memorial service for McCrimmon will be held in Saskatoon on Sunday, September 25th.
