Princess Royal to visit Canada in November

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says Canada will be getting a royal visitor in November.

Harper said Tuesday in a statement that the Princess Royal – formerly known as Princess Anne – has accepted an invitation for a royal tour.

A detailed program for the tour will be released at a later date, but the statement says it will concentrate on the National Capital Region.

The Princess Royal is the second child and only daughter of the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, and is Colonel-in-Chief of seven Canadian regiments.

Her last official tour of Canada was in 1991.
