Driver, 16, killed in highway collision near Milestone, Sask.

MILESTONE, Sask. – A teenager is dead after a two-vehicle crash occurred approximately five kilometres north of Milestone, Sask. on Saturday.

Around 5:30 p.m., emergency services were called to a collision between a Chevy Avalanche truck and a semi-trailer that was hauling pipe.

RCMP say the northbound truck was on Highway 39, while the semi was heading southbound.

The truck was being driven by a 16-year-old boy from Moose Jaw, Sask.  He was declared dead at the scene.

His name has not been released.

The 53-year-old semi driver from Edmonton was not hurt.

An RCMP traffic re-constructionist attended the scene to determine the cause of the collision.
