SPARWOOD, B.C. – Here is a detailed timeline of the events leading up to and following Kienan Hebert’s disappearance and safe return home, as well as the manhunt and capture of suspect Randall Hopley.
Sometime between the evening of Tuesday, September 6 and morning of Wednesday, September 7: Kienan was abducted from his home in Sparwood, B.C.
Wednesday, September 7:
• In the morning, the boy was reported missing by family
• ~6 p.m.: First amber alert issued later
• Massive search launched
Thursday, September 8:

• Amber alert extended for another 24 hours
• Search continues
• False alarm sighting in Kamloops
Friday, September 9:
• Amber alert extended for another 24 hours
• Search continues
• False alarm sighting on Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay ferry
Saturday, September 10:
• The RCMP say Kienan was abducted and did not just wander off from the family home
• Kienan’s parents make a plea, asking the abductor to return the boy
• Amber Alert extended for another 24 hours
• Search continues
Sunday, September 11:
• 3-3:15 a.m.: Kienan returned home by the suspect, reunited with his family
• 3:30 a.m.: Amber Alert cancelled
• Police say Kienan is unharmed, suspect is still on the loose
Monday, September 12:
Massive manhunt launched for suspect Randall Hopley – 50 police officers involved in ground and aerial search
Tuesday, September 13:
Randall Hopley arrested in Alberta, 3 km from the border at Crowsnest Pass Lake.
Ongoing: The surrounding area has been cordoned off and police are searching for an accomplice with a helicopter and ATVs.
