Council approves motion for fairer fares on Union-Pearson Express

The Union-Pearson Express rail link is slated for completion in 2015.

TORONTO – Toronto city council voted Thursday night to request Metrolinx to keep fares for the Union-Pearson express line affordable.

A motion asks the provincial transit agency to keep the ticket price comparable with GO Transit fares.

The cost per trip hasn’t officially been set but reports suggest it could range from $20 to $30.

The fare will also include a $1.85 charge to offset lost parking revenue at Pearson airport.

The rail link is targeted for completion just in time for the Pan Am Games in 2015.
