Possible arson explosion at Mont-Saint-Hilaire pizzeria

MONT-SAINT-HILAIRE – A pizzeria in Mont-Saint-Hilaire has been destroyed by a major fire that may have been caused by an explosion Monday morning.

Around 10:30 a.m., police received calls from several residents after they saw smoke rising from Med Pizza, located at a strip mall on Sir Wilfrid Laurier boulevard.

Employees who were about to start their shifts also told police they believe they saw someone running, and then an explosion before seeing flames.

At least seven other establishments suffered damage in the fire, causing millions of dollars in damages.

No one was hurt inside as the restaurant was closed.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries after a brick wall collapsed.

Richelieu-Saint-Laurent police are working to find out what caused the fire.
