Dozens of people were forced out of their homes in the middle of the night after their Surrey apartment caught on fire Sunday morning.
According to Surrey Fire Department Deputy Chief Karen Fry, around 50 people were evacuated from the apartment at 13550 Hilton Road, just off of King George Boulevard.

It’s believed the fire started around 3 a.m. in the roof – which doesn’t have sprinklers – and quickly spread.
A number of units were completely destroyed in the blaze, but the cause and total damage is unknown.
While the fire was put out in a matter of hours, crews say the building is unstable, which means people won’t be able to return in the near future.
There are no reports of any injuries.
