MIAMI – The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Katia has regained hurricane status again in open Atlantic.

The Miami-based centre says Katia was located to the northeast of the Caribbean’s Leeward Islands, and a wind reading at 6 a.m. EDT (1000 GMT) was the basis for the system to be upgraded from a tropical storm to a hurricane.
