A 16-year-old and 13-year-old have since been charged with second-degree murder in the case, and on Wednesday a judge ordered the 16-year-old to stay in custody.

“We will elect judge and jury on this matter,” explains defence lawyer Jim Lutz. “This young person is a compelling witness, and I think the jury is entitled to hear his side of the story. I think when they do they will truly understand he’s not responsible for this offense.”

A bail hearing for the 13-year-old is scheduled for next week.
