TORONTO – An Air Canada flight operated by regional airline Jazz Aviation landed safely Wednesday morning at an Ottawa airport after a report of smoke in the cabin.

An Air Canada spokesperson confirmed that Air Canada Express Flight AC8953, operated by Jazz,  was en route from Fredericton, N.B.,  to Toronto when crew requested priority landing.

“Once on the ground, passengers were deplaned rapidly as per our standard operating procedures,” said Debra Williams in an email to Global News.  “Emergency vehicles met the aircraft upon arrival and confirmed there was no fire on board.”

No injuries were reported.  Air Canada says passengers were booked on alternate flights to their destination.
