Boonstock security guards attempt five-finger discount

WATCH ABOVE: The security footage from Last Call Liquor Mart

PENTICTON, BC — The manager of Last Call Liquor Mart is furious that Boonstock security guards allegedly tried stealing from his store.

Fred Vassilaki says business has picked up significantly because of the music festival, but the last people he’d expect to pay attention to on his security cameras are security guards.

But he did pay attention this time, and was shocked by what he saw.

As the footage shows, two men dressed in 24/7 Security uniforms browse through an aisle, and one of them apparently putting a bottle of vodka in his pants.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“I find it pretty disgusting that they’re still wearing their security shirts,” he says.

Shortly after, Vassilaki goes up to the two men and ask how they are doing.

He believes this probably spooked them.

Once he left, one man went to the cash register while the other lingered around.

Then the bottle fell through the pants leg.

The security guard put it back on the shelf and walked away.

Vassilaki says they bought a different bottle of vodka and didn’t leave the store with unpurchased products.

“It makes me mad. These are people working for the security company? What are they doing with people’s stuff?”

He posted the surveillance video on the store, 24/7 Security, and Boonstock’s Facebook pages.

Navneet Dhaliwal replied back to the post, saying “we will fire them right away.”

However, Vassailki says he isn’t sure if Dhaliwal is with 24/7 Security and besides that comment, he hasn’t heard back from the security company and festival organizers.

His message for people looking for a five-finger discount: Don’t steal from my store.

24/7 Security could not be reached at this time.
