Cheques were supposed to be in the mail by now for ICBC customers who paid too much insurance over the last few years.
However, the money hasn’t been sent out yet.
ICBC staff say they’re still waiting for the completion of two external reviews which were slated to be done in mid-June.
In April, Transportation Minister Todd Stone ordered an audit and ICBC promised the situation would be resolved within three months.
Approximately 40,000 customers paid too much per year for optional insurance while another 58,000 didn’t pay enough.
The estimated cost of the accounting problem is $39 million.
