WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Police are on scene of an ‘escalating situation’ that may involve an armed man on Stella Avenue between Andrews Street and Powers Street.
At least ten police cars are in the neighbourhood, as well as a command center used in negotiations during standoffs. Police will not currently comment on the situation.
Several sources told Global News a man in the neighbourhood barricaded himself in a home with a gun, and that police evacuated some nearby houses and ordered other residents to stay indoors.
One resident told Global News they heard at least four shots fired and that police have been there for several hours, negotiating with the suspect.
It’s unknown if there is anyone else in the house with the suspect.
