FREDERICTON – The ombudsman’s office in New Brunswick says it will look into a complaint regarding a made-for-TV movie about a fatal crash involving seven high school basketball players.
Isabelle Hains and Ana Acavedo, whose sons were killed in the January 2008 accident, are campaigning against the film.
The mothers say they will do whatever they can to halt production of the film, which they say exploits the death of the seven boys.

They have filed a complaint with the provincial ombudsman in an effort to reverse a decision by the Bathurst-area school district to allow filming parts of the movie at Bathurst High School.
Acting ombudsman Francois Levert will determine whether his office has jurisdiction to make any recommendations.
That could take several months.
Fredericton-based Dream Street Pictures and CBC Television announced plans in July to make the film.
They say it will be based on the true story of how, in the year following the crash, the school’s basketball team went on to win a provincial title.
