A fire has badly damaged two homes in the northeast community of Castleridge.
Crews responded to the 100 block of Castlebrook Road Northeast just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
A neighbour woke up and began banging on doors to make sure everyone was out safely.
When fire crews arrived, the flames had spread from one home to another.

A neighbour said the fire was so intense, he was afraid that his house would be next.
“It was very scary, my kids were screaming. They haven’t seen a scene like that before, it was a scary night for us,” neighbour Nasir Malik said.
Three people living in both homes affected were able to get out safely.
The houses suffered substantial damage. Residents will not be able to return.
“It looks like from the damage to these buildings, both will have to be torn down,” explains Battalion Chief Paul LeBlanc.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
