Alberta actress among protesters arrested at White House rally against pipeline

WASHINGTON – Canadian actress Margot Kidder is among the latest slate of environmental protesters to be arrested outside the White House.

Kidder and Alberta’s Tantoo Cardinal were handcuffed, frisked and then put into police vans today after protesting TransCanada’s XL Keystone pipeline.

Their arrests happened on the fourth day of a civil disobedience campaign aimed at convincing U.S. President Barack Obama to block the project.

A group called Tar Sands Action is organizing the two-week campaign against plans to build the pipeline through seven U.S. states.
