VERNON — The wicked storm that blew through the Okanagan Wednesday left its mark on a Vernon business. Workers at MaryClaris Hair Extensions, Wigs & Beauty Supplies on 30th Avenue, came in to find part of the ceiling collapsed and hundreds of wigs destroyed.
“It was very, very heartbreaking for us,” says employee April Triggs.
Triggs says there were drops coming from ceiling late Wednesday afternoon and the store owner had arranged for a maintenance worker to take a look at it Thursday, but by then it was too late. The ceiling gave way at around 1:45 a.m. Thursday morning.
While the store owner has insurance, workers are now trying to figure out the extent of the damage to both the structure and to merchandise. Many items were saturated by rain and have been ruined, including hundreds of wigs. The business will remain closed for the next few days.
