Third North Shore Rescue cache broken into

VANCOUVER — A North Shore Rescue supply cache has been broken into and ransacked in Lynn Lake.

All of the ropes inside the cache were taken, and the remaining gear was left out in the elements.

This is the latest in a string of incidents. In late June, thousands of dollars worth of emergency supplies were stolen from North Shore Rescue at their Hanes Valley and Norvan Falls caches within two days. The thieves also vandalized the emergency helicopter landing pad at the Hanes Valley site.

The first two vandalized caches cost North Shore Rescue $20,000.

The entire cache in Lynn Lake has to be replaced.

North Vancouver RCMP continue to investigate.
