A man accused of opening fire at a Richmond banquet hall last year has been found not criminally responsible.

In January 2013, Sukhdeep Singh Sandhu walked into a longshoremen’s party at Riverside Hall.

He shot four people, including a former high school friend.

They have all since recovered from their injuries.

Sandhu testified that voices in his head told him to shoot the intended victim. He has since been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

The B.C. Review Board must now decide whether he should be detained in a psychiatric facility.
