The SPCA has seized 17 cats from a Penticton home.
The cats are in rough shape, some even having serious medical problems.
SPCA constables executed a warrant at the home after receiving an anonymous complaint about the animals.
Larry Thompson is the homeowner.
He says it’s been hard having the cats taken away.

“I don’t have any other family, so for me it’s like a death in the family, really,” said Thompson.
Thompson says he’s been taking in cats from neighbours who have died or moved away.
Then those cats started having kittens.
“They can multiply very quickly,” he said.
He says he understands one person can’t take care of that many cats and kittens, but it doesn’t make the loss easier.
The SPCA says there is a lot of work ahead to prepare the ailing kittens for adoption.
Most of the adult cats are timid, and the kittens aren’t litter-box trained.
The SPCA says it’s too early in the investigation to determine if Thompson will face any charges.
