VANCOUVER – A video of a daring helicopter rescue taken in Washington State is going viral.
The Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue Helicopter Rescue Team, an all-hazard response team, was called out on the evening of June 30 to rescue a hiker above Melakwa Lake near Snoqualmie Pass.
The hiker was clinging to a ledge about 30 metres above a set of jagged rocks and was worried he would not be able to hang on until search and rescue teams reached him on foot.
The helicopter crew in Snohawk10 arrived on scene and spotted the stranded hiker on the west side of Chair Peak in very steep terrain.
They were able to rescue him off the side of the cliff using a rescue cable and safely landed with him at about 8:30 p.m.
The hiker escaped without any injuries.
