EDMONTON – A 35-year-old man died at the scene of a crash on Highway 16 Wednesday afternoon.

Police believe speed was a contributing factor to the single-vehicle crash which happened about two kilometres east of Lavoy, a hamlet just over 100 km east of Edmonton.

RCMP were called to the scene around 3:30 p.m.

Their investigation revealed that the man was traveling west before losing control of his truck, and crossing the centre median. The vehicle rolled and landed on its side, blocking both eastbound lanes of the highway, which had to be closed for several hours as a result.

The investigation into the incident continues.
