PEACHLAND — Emergency officials are on the scene of a serious crash between an SUV and semi.

It happened at the intersection of Highway 97 and Trepanier Bench Road shortly after noon Thursday.

Police haven’t released details on the cause of the crash or injuries.

A witness on scene, Mike Sutton, was driving behind the SUV.

Sutton says the vehicle drifted over the centreline and hit the semi head-on.

“As soon as the accident happened the truck driver jumped out of the truck and ran to the [SUV],” says Sutton.

“Two people behind me pulled over. There was a nurse there trying to talk to the person in the [SUV].”

A portion of Highway 97 is closed.

Southbound traffic is being diverted to Buchanan Road while northbound traffic is being detoured to Trepanier Bench Road.
