Ryan Jimmo to put MFC title on the line against The African Assassin

EDMONTON – New signing Rameau Thierry (The African Assassin) Sokoudjou will face Maximum Fighting Championship light-heavyweight title-holder Ryan (The Big Deal) Jimmo at “MFC 31: The Rundown” on Oct. 7 at Edmonton’s Mayfield Conference Centre.

Sokoudjou (12-8) is a veteran of Pride and the UFC, most recently earning a decision over Roy Boughton in the Score Fighting Series.

Jimmo (15-1) has won his last 15 fights, including his last 10 in the MFC.

“Ryan is a terrific champion and represents the MFC like no other fighter ever has before,” MFC owner Mark Pavelich said in a statement. “Now we’re going to see how he handles the athleticism and pressure that Sokoudjou will put on him.”

Edmonton’s Jimmo won by decision over Zak Cummings at MFC 29 in his first title defence.

In other MFC 31 fights, lightweight Richie (Hell Boy) Whitson (11-1) faces Vancouver’s (Ragin) Kajan Johnson (18-10-1). In another 155-pound bout, Edmonton’s Mukai Maromo (5-2) meets Sabah Fadai (7-1) of Chilliwack, B.C.

The previously announced MFC lightweight title between champion Antonio (Mandingo) McKee and Brian (The Bandit) Cobb has been moved to MFC 32 in November.
