Man loses appeal of sentence for dangerous driving that killed an 83-year-old

VANCOUVER – A man sentenced to jail time for a fatal bus stop crash in Surrey has lost his appeal to overturn his conviction.

In September 2009, Gurjit Dhillon crashed his brother’s Corvette into a bus shelter at 72 Street and 127 Avenue where 83-year-old Pritam Benning was sitting.

Benning died in hospital five days later.

Last year Dhillon was sentenced to one year in jail and a five year driving ban for dangerous driving causing death.
