A makeshift memorial for a 71-year-old woman who was killed in a busy intersection in Port Moody Tuesday afternoon continues to grow at the site of the crash.
The grandmother of three was crossing the street on her mobility scooter, just 50 meters from her home, when she was hit by a flat-deck truck at Ioco Road and Ungless Way.
It is unknown whether Betty Pleshko was already crossing the street when she was hit. Some witnesses at the scene reported seeing the truck flip over before it hit her.
The truck also hit a number of other vehicles, sending three people to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Collision analysts have taken measurements at the scene and the driver of the truck is now being interviewed.
Investigators say it’s still too early to tell what caused that crash.
